We welcome all riders, from beginners to advanced.
Can I choose a horse or a pony for my lesson?
The yard owner/yard manager will select the right horse/pony for you based on your height, weight and riding ability which is why it is so important you provide us with the correct information when you make your first booking.
Do you have an indoor school?
No, we have 2 floodlit all weather outdoor arenas and we ride in all weathers unless we risk assess it to be too dangerous.
Does Newark Equestrian have a cancellation policy?
All bookings have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy for ALL lessons and activities and must be adhered too. If you need to cancel your lesson, this must be done at least 48 hours before by contacting one of our instructors. If cancellation is less than 48 hours, it may be possible to move lessons to another day within 7 days of the original booking, if this is not possible then payment is due in full. Unfortunately it is not always possible to move Pony Day bookings.
Do I need a riding hat / body protector?
We have a large selection of hats and body protectors that meet current standards, for our visitors to borrow free of charge each lesson time. You must wear a hat at all times when riding and we encourage you to purchase your own hat and body protector if you are a regular rider. Body protectors must be worn if you are under 16 years of age. If you bring your own hat and body protector, they must meet current standards.
Do I need to wear jodhpurs / riding boots?
Any long trousers and boots with a small heel or wellies are appropriate for riding, but we do recommend a good pair of jodhpurs which are available to purchase at on our site tack shop.
What age can children start riding?
We offer ½ hour introductory lessons from 3 years old which includes grooming, a short ride and feeding the ponies. But all children are assessed on an individual basis.
What happens in bad weather?
We consider horse riding to be an all weather sport, riding lessons will go ahead wherever possible, if we do need to move your lessons due to extreme weather we will call you.
Is there a weight restriction for horse riding?
It is only fair for our lovely horses that there is a weight restriction in place to protect our horses, this is 14 stone.
